Video: Recap - Hoover vs. McGill-Toolen 2016
See highlights from last year's battle between two of Alabama's best programs. There is Hoover, and then there is everybody else when it comes to determining which Alabama high school football program is the most dominant.
The Buccaneers have forged an impenetrable grab on the top spot since MaxPreps became America's source for high school sports with eight trips to state title games, five of those trips netting titles. Their lead on No. 2 Spain Park is massive, and that's saying something, because Spain Park has earned four titles since 2006.
No. 11 Piedmont hasn't reached the Top 25 in the state rankings often but three state titles get the Bulldogs on the list.
Here is how the points break down:
1. 20 for a state title
2. 10 for state championship game appearance
3.
Other points are based on where a team finished in the final
MaxPreps Alabama Football Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. For example, if a team finished No. 1 overall, it would receive
25 points. If it finished 25th overall, the team would get one point. No
points are awarded if the team did not finish in the Top 25.
