For the first time this season, Pleasant Grove will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Wasatch Wasps at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Pleasant Grove is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Lone Peak, who was ranked first at the time (Pleasant Grove was ranked eighth). The Vikings fell 6-1 to the Knights on Saturday. The Vikings were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Knights' pitchers proved too tough.
Pleasant Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tobin Degelbeck, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Degelbeck has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Wasatch entered their tilt with Cottonwood on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Wasps have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Braxton Faller made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other pitching news, Tyson Dahl looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Eddie Bluth was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sam Pinter, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Wasatch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Pleasant Grove's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2. As for Wasatch, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pleasant Grove has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wasatch struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
