The Amundsen Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a tough 38-12 defeat at the hands of Westinghouse. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Amundsen has scored all season.
Amundsen's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mia Markovic, who scored four points along with nine rebounds, and Devin Horrow who scored a point. That's the first time this season that Markovic pulled down eight or more rebounds.
It was another big night for LaMonyca Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds for Westinghouse. Bryant has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Nina Israel was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Amundsen has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Westinghouse, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Amundsen will head out on the road to challenge Thornwood at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Thornwood is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Westinghouse's road trip will continue as they head out to face Deerfield at 1:15 p.m. on January 15th. Deerfield has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 27.
