The Ridgeway Roadrunners waltzed into their game on Thursday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They came out on top against Power Center Academy by a score of 72-61. Given Ridgeway's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Knights are ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ridgeway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emanuel Allen, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Allen hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlon Mcshane, who scored 23 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Power Center Academy still got an impressive performance from Nazir Allen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Allen is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cayden Black, who scored 16 points.
Ridgeway is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Power Center Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgeway won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Golden Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Melrose is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Power Center Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Roadrunners at 7:30 p.m. Ridgeway knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully the Knights like a good challenge.
