It was a good run, but the Aiken Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 86-81 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walton-Verona. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (64), Aiken still had to take the loss.
Aiken's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of James Burnett, who scored 23 points along with six assists, and Jaiden Arnold who scored 20 points along with five assists and two steals. Arnold is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Hawkins, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Aiken's defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-5. As for Walton-Verona, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aiken will take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Withrow will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Falcons are ranked 67th). As for Walton-Verona, they will be playing at home against the Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
