After a string of 13 wins, the Dighton Hornets's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Quinter. Dighton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Saturday.
Dighton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carson Shimer, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was George Von Leonrod, who scored 12 points.
Quinter was led to victory by Avery Briggs and Shea Salyers. Briggs scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Salyers scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Briggs has scored all season. Luke Packard was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Dighton's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-1. As for Quinter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dighton will stay at home for another game and welcome the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Ingalls will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Hornets are ranked 63rd). As for Quinter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
