There's no place like home for the Arlington Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They managed a 60-54 win over Archbishop Murphy on Wednesday. Given Arlington's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Archbishop Murphy is ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leyton Martin was his usual excellent self, scoring 40 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Arlington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bill Kooy, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Arlington's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Archbishop Murphy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Arlington will square off against Cascade at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Archbishop Murphy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cedarcrest at 8:00 p.m.
