Baseball Game Preview: The Linsly School Cadets vs. Brooke Bruins

The Linsly School Cadets will venture away from home to face off against the Brooke Bruins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

The Linsly School barely beat University the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cadets put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 14-8 win last Wednesday. The game was the first time the Cadets have beaten the Hawks on their field since March 21, 2022.

The Linsly School let Chris Upton and Dominic Fato run wild. Upton scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Fato scored two runs while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, Upton is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Tyga Goto also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The Linsly School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Brooke got the win against Beaver Local on Friday by a conclusive 15-5. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now won six in a row.

Brooke got a massive performance out of Henry Anderson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The Bruins are undefeated when Anderson posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Garrett Moore was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases.

Brooke pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for The Linsly School, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
