Meanwhile, Shawnee entered their tilt with Defiance with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went Shawnee's way against Defiance on Friday as Shawnee made off with a 67-43 win. Given Shawnee's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Defiance is ranked 425th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shawnee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Beckett Bertke, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Bertke is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevick Bertke, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Wapakoneta now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Shawnee, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
