The New Prairie Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hobart Brickies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, New Prairie earned a 16-8 victory over Elkhart. The victory was just what New Prairie needed coming off of a 22-0 defeat in their prior contest.
The critical scores for New Prairie came from Reece Lapczynski and Brock Sinka.
Meanwhile, Hobart got themselves on the board against Highland on Friday, but Highland never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Trojans 48-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Hobart, who have now won four matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
Max Pickett was a one-man wrecking crew for Hobart as he rushed for 197 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonny Sorensen, who rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
New Prairie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Hobart, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: New Prairie has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 191.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hobart struggles in that department as they've been even better at 200.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything went New Prairie's way against Hobart in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as New Prairie made off with a 49-28 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Hobart's Trey Gibson, who rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for New Prairie to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
