Centerville is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Lawrenceburg is on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Centerville Bulldogs will take on the Lawrenceburg Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Centerville on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Knightstown out of the water with a 49-3 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-3.
Centerville haved a senior duo take command as Jake Tinkle threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes and Nathan Dickenson picked up 205 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Dickenson's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Brayden Ross was another key contributor, rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lawrenceburg gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victor by a 42-21 margin over South Dearborn. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Lawrenceburg just coasted through the last quarter.
Teagan Bennett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 162 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Bennett is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Saylor, who gained 91 total yards and a touchdown.
Lawrenceburg's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Noah Knigga and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Centerville to 9-0 and Lawrenceburg to 7-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Centerville has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 153.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lawrenceburg struggles in that department as they've been even better at 157.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
