Cardinal Mooney is a perfect 8-0 against Southeast since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will welcome the Seminoles at 4:30 p.m. Cardinal Mooney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Cardinal Mooney proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 15) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Clearwater Central Catholic 3-2.

Kaitlyn Will spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Lockhart, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Caroline Rooney was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Cardinal Mooney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Southeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 22-0 to Lemon Bay.
Southeast saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alicia Martinez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Southeast's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Cardinal Mooney, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Southeast's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cardinal Mooney has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Southeast, though, as they've been averaging 16 hits. Given Cardinal Mooney's sizable advantage in that area, the Seminoles will need to find a way to close that gap.
