The Ludlowe Falcons will challenge the Rogers Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rogers took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ludlowe, who comes in off a win.
Ludlowe is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Greenwich on Thursday. The Falcons walked away with a 6-2 win over the Cardinals. The Falcons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Angie Tavella spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauren Santa Barbara, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Mills, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Ludlowe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Rogers faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Vikings fell just short of the Knights by a score of 16-15. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (12), the Vikings still had to take the loss.
Tess Margolis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Catalina Schroder was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Rogers now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Ludlowe, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ludlowe has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rogers struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
