Softball Recap: Oyster River Wins Going Away Against Laconia

Oyster River had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Laconia on Thursday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Sachems. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Sachems recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Morgan Trela made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Oyster River let Kate Michaud and Aliza Parks run wild. Michaud went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Parks went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those doubles marked the first that Parks has hit this season. Kaiya Mercier was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Oyster River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Oyster River's victory bumped their record up to 4-1-1. As for Laconia, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oyster River will square off against Lebanon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laconia, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Plymouth at 4:00 p.m. on May 5.
