The McQueen Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 79-53 walloping at the hands of Damonte Ranch. While losing is never fun, McQueen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Mustangs are ranked seventh).
Despite the defeat, McQueen saw an underclassman step up: Kade Snyder dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 47.2% of McQueen's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Torrie Simmons was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
It was another big night for Jace Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for Damonte Ranch. Anderson is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeriah Macias, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
McQueen has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Damonte Ranch, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3.
McQueen will take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Spanish Springs' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Damonte Ranch, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Douglas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
