The Galileo Lions will square off against the Urban Blues at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Galileo is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
Urban's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Galileo hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Lions' pitchers stepped up to hand Leadership an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Lions have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Zane Ridley made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diego Gil, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Giovani Verde, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Urban and Lick-Wilmerding, and Urban kept the tradition alive. The Blues had just enough and edged out the Tigers 9-8 on Friday. With that victory, the Blues brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Conor Darling was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4. Kaden Fox-Gabel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Urban kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Galileo's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Urban, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6.
Urban's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Galileo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. It's a different story for Urban, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Galileo's hitters?
Galileo couldn't quite get it done against Urban when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
