Meanwhile, Lewisville never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Great Falls 69-0. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won four in a row.
Lewisville's win came from a few key players Lamar will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mikel Hutchins, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of scores. Another player making a difference was Jalen Culp, who threw for 100 yards and three TDs on perfect 9-for-9 passing.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lewisville's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jay'Sean Culp. Culp is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season. Eden Gaston was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Special teams played a big role in the game for Lewisville, adding 21 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jacorreun Howze, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Lamar's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Lewisville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Lamar has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 254.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lewisville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 212 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
