Wolfson got a massive performance out of Paxton Frederick, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Frederick a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydin Morrissey, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Wolfson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Baldwin sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Yulee on Thursday.
Maxwell Gallagher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has become a key player for Baldwin: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Baldwin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Macik, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. The Indians are undefeated when Macik posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Another was Chase Staley, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
The win got Wolfson back to even at 7-7. As for Baldwin, the victory also got them back to even at 7-7.
Baldwin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wolfson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for Baldwin, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Wolfson's hitters?
Wolfson suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Baldwin in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Wolfpack have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
