After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bartlett, the Arlington Tigers were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Houston 41-38. The win was all the more spectacular given Arlington's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Houston is ranked 96th).
Arlington was led to victory by Taylor Miller and Zaria Moss. Miller scored 14 points along with four steals, while Moss scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cydney Hurt, who scored four points along with three blocks.
Houston lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mckenzie Percoski, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Anna lee Avery was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Houston were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arlington only posted three assists.
Arlington's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Houston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arlington will face off against Cordova at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cordova is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Houston, they will head out on the road to face off against Bartlett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
