It was a good run, but The Unicoi County Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Austin-East 48-43. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (42), Unicoi County still had to take the loss.
Shane Cherry was his usual excellent self, throwing for 386 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 15.4 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 98 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Marco Allen was another key contributor, picking up 149 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Unicoi County's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Austin-East, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-7.
Unicoi County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Austin-East will head out on the road to face off against Alcoa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alcoa presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Austin-East in Tennessee (Alcoa is ranked eighth, while Austin-East is ranked 228th).
