The Reading Blue Devils will take on the Clermont Northeastern Rockets in a tournament on Wednesday. Reading is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Reading gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Boone County with a sharp 13-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Lillie Riedmiller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Androne, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Berry, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Reading kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Clermont Northeastern fell victim to Goshen and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 6-0 to the Warriors. The Rockets' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Clermont Northeastern saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Reading has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Clermont Northeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
