Even though the Mullen Mustangs scored an imposing 59 points on Wednesday, the Cherokee Trail Cougars still came out on top. Cherokee Trail took their game against the Mustangs 70-59. For Cherokee Trail, this counts as revenge for the 76-71 defeat the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cherokee Trail to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amari Chandler, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals. Jordan Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Cherokee Trail's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for Mullen, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Cherokee Trail will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Trailblazers at 7:00 p.m. As for Mullen, they will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Arapahoe is ranked 36th, while the Mustangs are ranked 56th).
