AA Region IV recap October 29, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Cheraw, who defeated 82nd ranked Central, 29-7.
Chesterfield's Quan Watson rumbled for the longest rushing play in AA Region IV this season in his game against Buford last week. Watson's team beat the Yellowjackets as he sprinted for 53 yards on the play and finished with 215 in all.
Chesterfield's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dillon Rivers threw for 271 and 3 touchdowns and Chuck Jackson had 133 yards receiving. On the ground Watson contributed 215 yards. David Grant helped Chesterfield's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 71 yards.
Watson was a force in the backfield as Ike Allred's team defeated Buford.
He went 17-25 with 0 interceptions.
Watson was the best running back in the league this week. Rivers also contributed to the rushing game with 15 yards on the ground.
The Golden Rams' Rivers and Grant have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Rivers has thrown for 3,014 yards this season, while Grant has 70 catches for 1,097 yards. Kolby Whitley from Andrew Jackson leads the league in rushing with 582 yards.
The Braves are in third place, while Chesterfield is in first place.
Adding to the longest winning streak in AA Region IV this week, Cheraw beat the Eagles 29-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for Johnny White's team.
