On Saturday, Wayne beat Rockwell 49-40.
Wayne found their leader in underclassman AJ Vandyke, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Vandyke's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Raegyn Blackburn, who scored ten points.
Wayne has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Rockwell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Wayne is on the road again on Saturday and play against Merit Preparatory Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Merit Preparatory Academy is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. Rockwell will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Maeser Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
