The Knightstown Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Oldenburg Academy by a score of 39-36. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Knightstown of the 48-28 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2017.
When it comes to explaining why Knightstown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Michael Roberson. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. That was a full 58.3% of Knightstown's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Palmer Newkirk, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Knightstown's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-8. As for Oldenburg Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Knightstown will head out on the road to face off against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oldenburg Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Indians at 1:30 p.m.
