Basic came out on top against Rancho on Thursday thanks in part to Melanie Hughes's efforts. Hughes was unstoppable, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.
