Prince Avenue Christian (Athens, Ga.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Carl Mattox ran for a touchdown with with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Darlington (Rome, Ga.) 42-21.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at 14. The Wolverines took the lead for good on a Mattox touchdown run in the third quarter.
Mattox and
Bryce Huff ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Tigers. Mattox scored two touchdowns on the ground and Huff added three as well.
Darlington came in surrendering 15.9 points per game this season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Darlington, which notched a 31-14 victory over Mount Pisgah Christian in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for Prince Avenue Christian, which lost to George Walton Academy last week, 17-14. The loss snapped DHS's 2-game winning streak.
