After a string of four wins, Wilmot's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Union Grove Broncos by a score of 2-1. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Broncos from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Chance Ruby was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Ruby wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Preston Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Wilmot's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Union Grove, their victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-5.

Coming up, Wilmot will face off against Antioch at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Union Grove, they will venture away from home to challenge Oconomowoc at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
