On Friday, The Lincoln East Spartans faced the Gretna Dragons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lincoln East took a hard 31-14 fall against Gretna. Lincoln East has struggled against Gretna recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Although Lincoln East took the loss, they still got scores from Jeter Worthley and Dash Bauman.
Isaiah Weber had an outrageously good game for Gretna as he rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Alex Wilcoxson, who rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown.
Lincoln East's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Gretna, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Lincoln East will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln Southeast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Southeast is on a four-game streak of home wins, Lincoln East a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Gretna will take on Omaha North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Omaha North is ranked 19th, while Gretna is ranked 17th).
