Putnam is 1-0 against Canby since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Putnam Kingsmen will head out on the road to face off against the Canby Cougars at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Putnam has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Canby will arrive with five straight wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 47-8, which was the final score in Putnam's tilt against Centennial on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Canby humbled Hood River Valley with a 40-6 victory. The result was nothing new for Canby, who have now won five games by 22 points or more so far this season.
Putnam's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. More embarrasing are the teams that make up that slump in performance: Centennial, McDaniel, and Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts. As for Canby, their victory on Thursday bumped their record up to 5-2.
Putnam strolled past Canby in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 34-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for Putnam since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
