The Beaver Bobcats will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Upper St. Clair Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Beaver's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Beaver scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Hopewell with a sharp 76-53 win. Given Beaver's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Hopewell is ranked 361st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Brady Mayo, who scored 23 points along with seven steals and five assists. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Junior Marino was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Upper St. Clair, as they earned their first road win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 49-32 victory over Ashley Ridge on Friday.
Beaver's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for Upper St. Clair, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Beaver strolled past Upper St. Clair in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 59-45. Does Beaver have another victory up their sleeve, or will Upper St. Clair turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
