The Sidney Red Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alliance Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sidney will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Sidney came up short against Ogallala and fell 22-15.
Loss or not, Sidney got some senior leadership from Luke Holly who gained 125 total yards and two touchdowns and Isak Doty who rushed for 91 yards.
Meanwhile, Alliance's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. The contest between Alliance and Chadron wasn't particularly close, with Alliance falling 41-26.
Landen Crowe put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 375 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown. Jonah Amill was another key contributor, picking up 150 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Having lost for the first time this season, Sidney fell to 7-1. Alliance has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost six of their first eight contests, which leaves them at a 2-6 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' contest: Sidney has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 277.1 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Alliance, though, as they've been averaging only 93.9 per game. How will Alliance fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Sidney against Alliance in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 41-14 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Alliance's Carson Bair, who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Sidney to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
