It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Toombs County had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-15 victory over the Dublin Fighting Irish. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tj Stanley was his usual excellent self, throwing for 152 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 97 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Despite the loss, Dublin still got an impressive performance from Micah O?Neal, who rushed for 129 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards O?Neal has posted since back in November of 2023.
The win was the fifth in a row for Toombs County, bringing their record for this year to 12-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Dublin, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 13 games and leaves them with a 13-1 record.
Toombs County will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northeast at 1:00 p.m. on December 17th. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Toombs County has won nine straight at home dating back to last season, while Northeast won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
