The Land O' Lakes Gators will play host again and welcome the Springstead Eagles, where tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Monday, things could have been worse for Land O' Lakes, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-44 loss to East Lake. While losing is never fun, Land O' Lakes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while East Lake is ranked 129th).
Defeat or not, Land O' Lakes got some senior leadership from Jordan Massie and Maxwell Moore. Massie scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Moore. scored 16 points. Massie has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jayden Todd was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Springstead posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They really took it to Citrus for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-24 victory at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-14.
It was another big night for Austin Nicholson, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Sayre, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Land O' Lakes has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Springstead, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7.
Land O' Lakes came out on top in a nail-biter against Springstead when the teams last played back in December of 2022, sneaking past 56-54. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Springstead's Divine Torain, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Land O' Lakes to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
