The South Plantation Paladins will head out to take on the South Broward Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Plantation has four straight victories, South Broward has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
South Plantation is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Stranahan to the tune of 62-14 on Friday. With the Paladins ahead 62-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Plantation to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kamary Cooper, who rushed for 202 yards on only ten carries, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Cooper really tore up the turf during one magnificent 95-yard run. Nixon Kalish was another key signal caller, throwing for 301 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Plantation was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 244 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 153 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
South Plantation's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Matthew Whyte, Jamaud Toussaint, and Semaj Brown, who each picked up one sack apiece. Delano Joseph got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, South Broward had to suffer through a 45-6 loss at the hands of Coconut Creek. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Cougars are ranked 69th).
South Broward's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for South Plantation, their record now sits at 5-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: South Plantation has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 448 total yards per game. It's a different story for South Broward, though, as they've been averaging only 218.7 total yards. Will South Plantation be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Bulldogs flip the script?
South Plantation suffered a grim 31-6 defeat to South Broward in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Paladins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
