After a string of four wins, the Spring Valley Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Rock Hill by a score of 49-47. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Spring Valley came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Rock Hill is ranked 127th).
Leading Rock Hill to victory were Dashawn Anderson and Malik Ashe. Anderson scored nine points along with seven rebounds, while Ashe scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelton Adams, who scored four points.
Spring Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Rock Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Fort Mill the next time they take the court. Rock Hill will head out to face Fort Mill at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while Spring Valley will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
