The Quincy Blue Devils will square off against the Alleman Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Quincy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Quincy barely beat Camp Point Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Devils never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Drake Gibson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Quincy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 11-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Mason Ritter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Quincy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Alleman, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Riverdale on Tuesday.
CJ Carruthers and Kelly Honert dominated on the mound. Carruthers tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits, while Honert pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Honert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Nolan Buchen was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Truman Marner, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Quincy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-14. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Alleman, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Quincy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Alleman struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Quincy's way against Alleman in their previous matchup on Monday, as Quincy made off with a 17-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
