After a string of four wins, Rosa Fort's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against the Coahoma County Red Panthers, falling 59-38. The game marked the Lions' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Coahoma County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zech Smith, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Those 24 points gave Smith a new career-high. Orlando Stuckey was another key player, putting up 14 points and five boards.

Rosa Fort's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 16-4. As for Coahoma County, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 22-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rosa Fort will host Holly Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coahoma County, they will square off against Independence at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coahoma County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Independence likes a good challenge.
