The Columbus Falcons pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Callaway by a score of 68-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (58), Columbus still had to take the loss.
Callaway got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braxton Ward out in front who scored 22 points along with seven steals. Ward hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Kaden Hayes was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Columbus has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 19-10 record this season. As for Callaway, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus will square off against Olive Branch at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Olive Branch knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Columbus likes a good challenge. Callaway is on the road again on Saturday and plays Center Hill at 6:00 p.m. on February 17th. Callaway knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Center Hill likes a good challenge.
