Glen Allen's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Atlee hitters got past them. The Jaguars fell 11-7 to the Raiders on Tuesday. Jaguars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Raiders since on Tuesday.
Ally Von Herbulis and Alison Via stepped up to the plate in a big way. Von Herbulis went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Via went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Maeve Haun was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hanover had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Ashleigh Barnette made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barnette was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Hanover let Kylie Towner and Kaycee Doughty run wild. Towner got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double, while Doughty went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Layla Staton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Hanover hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Hanover's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Glen Allen, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
