It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Southern Nash Firebirds ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 52-44 victory over South Granville. The win was just what Southern Nash needed coming off of a 67-33 loss in their prior game.
Southern Nash's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deana Artis, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anastasia Fields, who scored 9 points.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amani Freeman, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lauryn Davis, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
The victory got Southern Nash back to even at 1-1. As for South Granville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Southern Nash will head out on the road to face off against Corinth Holders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Corinth Holders is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for South Granville, they will be playing at home against Vance County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
