The Willapa Valley Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mossyrock Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Last Friday, Willapa Valley came up short against Ilwaco and fell 53-42. Willapa Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Willapa Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rilyn Channell, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Channell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Merkel, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Mossyrock entered their tilt with Naselle with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Mossyrock took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 60-33 victory over Naselle. Mossyrock has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 27 points or more this season.
Willapa Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Mossyrock, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
Willapa Valley took a serious blow against Mossyrock in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 63-22. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Willapa Valley was down 30-9.
