After both having extra time off, the Connetquot T-Birds and the Bay Shore Marauders will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Connetquot sitting on 16 straight wins and Bay Shore on three.
Connetquot is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Ward Melville as they made off with a 3-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Connetquot not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Ward Melville between 17 and 20 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-18.
Elena Carro was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had ten digs and two aces.
Carro wasn't the only good servers: Connetquot was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 12 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bay Shore posted their closest win since October 6th two weeks ago. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Longwood 3-2.
Bay Shore had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-13, 15-11.
Bay Shore's win bumped their record up to 17-3-1. As for Connetquot, their victory bumped their record up to 27-2-1.
Connetquot suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Bay Shore when the teams last played back in September of 2023. Can the T-Birds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
