Mission Trail (8 Man) recap October 8, 2013
Trinity Christian extended the longest winning streak in Mission Trail (8 Man) this week by beating East Palo Alto Phoenix Academy, 44-20. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Pinewood took down North Valley Baptist 78-22 last week, the largest margin of any game. Aidan Lucero ran for 131 yards and caught 2 passes for 40 yards in the win.
Will Latta was a passing and rushing force as Woodside Priory bested Alma Heights Christian. He completed 8 passes for 97 yards and also ran for 170 yards. Latta's favorite target this week was Tom Latta, who caught 5 passes for 58 yards.
Micheal Alcaraz threw for 245 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 11-17 with 1 interception.
Latta was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 170 yards on 15 carries as the Panthers topped East Palo Alto Phoenix Academy. Teammate Charlie Tidmarsh added to the ground attack by rushing for 142 yards.
Frank Leonard's team's Alcaraz and Matt Novak have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Alcaraz has thrown for 978 yards this season, while Novak has 21 catches for 379 yards. Lucero from the Panthers leads the league in rushing with 624 yards.
An important game coming up in Mission Trail (8 Man) this week will be when Anzar takes on Pinewood. At the moment, the Hawks are in fourth, while Matt Irvin's team is in third.
