The Therrell Panthers will take on the Clarke Central Gladiators in a holiday battle at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday at. Therrell is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-42, which was the final score in Therrell's tilt against Russell County on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Therrell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 419th in Georgia, while Russell County is ranked 57th in Alabama).
Despite their defeat, Therrell saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Michael Woolridge, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Morion Mcwhorter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Clarke Central pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of North Cobb Christian by a score of 63-61. Clarke Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Therrell has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Clarke Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
