The Shelton Chargers pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Covenant 64-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (58), Shelton still had to take the loss.
Covenant had a senior duo take command as Brady Shahan scored 18 points and Dobson Beaird dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Beaird hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Webb, who scored eight points.
Shelton bumped their record down to 11-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Covenant, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.
Coincidentally, Shelton and Covenant will both be playing Prince of Peace the next time they take the court. Shelton will head out to face Prince of Peace at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Covenant will head out to face them at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
