The Olive Branch Conquistadors''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 21-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saltillo. The matchup was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Olive Branch was outscored by Saltillo in the second.
Olive Branch's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Bobo, who threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Britten Traylor also helped out as he racked up 101 receiving yards.
Olive Branch's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.2 points per game. As for Saltillo, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Olive Branch will be playing in front of their home fans against South Panola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Panola will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Saltillo, they will head out on the road to face off against Grenada at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grenada presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Saltillo in Mississippi (Grenada is ranked 12th, while Saltillo is ranked 94th).
