After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. Mount St. Mary Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sylvan Hills, who comes in off a win.
Sylvan Hills will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Searcy last Thursday. Sylvan Hills came out on top against Searcy by a score of 10-5. The game was the first time the Bears have beaten the Lions on their field since March 7, 2020.
Zamari Ball - 2026 was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.
In other pitching news, Laityn Simmons - 2025 looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Ryanne Pozza - 2026 was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Abbie Mayden - 2026, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Mount St. Mary Academy fell victim to Little Rock Southwest and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They fell just short of the Gryphons by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Belles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Sylvan Hills pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Mount St. Mary Academy, they moved to 4-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Sylvan Hills took their victory against Mount St. Mary Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sylvan Hills since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
