 In other batting news, Academy at the Lakes got a big performance out of  Vinnie VerPault, who  scored three  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Engel Cortes-Ramos, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-1.
 On Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Jose Gutierrez, who  went 1-for-2 with a  double.
 Academy at the Lakes' win  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 8-11. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, they dropped their record down to 6-18 with that  loss, which was their tenth straight  at home dating back to last season.
