The Goodpasture Christian Cougars will challenge the Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Goodpasture Christian was handed a 13-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene last Monday. They had just enough and edged out Nashville Christian 6-5. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Serenity Harrison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Goodpasture Christian let Laura Beth Blessing and Brooklyn Jones run wild. Blessing went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Jones got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Faith Ivy, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Goodpasture Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nashville Christian only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, while Donelson Christian Academy put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Ezell-Harding Christian. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Eagles. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.
Chloe Carawan made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Donelson Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Heather Scales, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Scales has posted since back in March. Anaya Dawson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Donelson Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Goodpasture Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Goodpasture Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Donelson Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
